The Nighthawks were pulled together by Mark Wenner in 1972 with the original members Jimmy Thackery, Jan Zukowski, and Pete Ragusa. The quartet ruled the highways and honky-tonks until Jimmy’s departure in 1986 to pursue a solo career. Fast forward to today, the the current band members of The Nighthawks are Mark Wenner (vocals, harmonica), Mark Stutso (drums, vocals), Paul Pisciotta (bass), and Dan Hovey (guitar, vocals).

On April 15th, 2022, under VizzTone Label Group, the band released an album called “Established 1972” that represents 50 years of Washington DC’s road warriors going strong. Together, this group brings decades of varied experience to the stage and studio playing a taste of blues, R&B, honky-tonk country, doo-wop, gospel and rockabilly. Kurt Crandall & True Story (6:00-7:00pm) _______________________________________

Kurt Crandall will perform at the Blues Fest at Flat Iron Crossroads, showcasing his style of Chicago blues, West Coast swing, and Kansas City jump! Music has taken Kurt throughout the United States with stops in Kansas City, Washington D.C., Macon, Chicago, Seattle, and most recently Richmond, Virginia. After living in Kansas City and touring throughout the Midwest, he moved back to the East Coast. While in D.C. he played regularly with Jesse James Brown (former bass player for Bo Diddley). After just one year in D.C., Kurt relocated to the Deep South, where he spent three years playing with the Macon Blues All-Star which included several alumni from Otis Redding’s band. Kurt left Georgia and moved to Chicago to immerse himself in the city’s stored blues scene as well as travel nationally and internationally to promote his debut album – True Story. During his tenure in Chicago, he landed on the regular rotation at the House of Blues, Shaw’s Crabhouse, Andy’s Jazz Club. Wise Fools Pub, and Smoke Daddy and played with blues heavyweights, Dave Specter, Kenny Smith, Barrelhouse Chuck, and Jimmy Sutton. He is currently promoting this 4th recording – STARS ON THE STOPS- and looks forward to routing the country and abroad to promote the album.
