Children ages 10 & under are free. \nIn the remarkable 25 year career of The Boneshakers\, the iconic band has always been led by world-renowned guitarist\, Randy Jacobs of Was (Not Was). Their sound is a blend of funk\, blues\, and rock\, coupled with powerful vocals by Jenny Langer that marries the sounds and spirits of Detroit Rock City\, Memphis\, and Mussel Shoals… \n \nHow The Boneshakers came to be… \nSTORIED CAREER Flashback to 1980 — During his maiden session for Don and David Was\, Randy Jacobs meets Sweetpea Atkinson on a cold night in the Motor City at Sound Suite Studio (the recording home of the fledgling band Was (Not Was). The connection was immediate and a bond was forged between the two artists. Their combined talents would help Was (Not Was) become a successful act during the 80’s and into the early 90’s cumulating with the worldwide hit “Walk The Dinosaur” co-written by Jacobs. After their European tour with Dire Straits in 1992\, the Was Band went on hiatus and Randy started playing and recording with the likes of Bonnie Raitt\, BB King\, Seal\, Paula Abdul\, Kris Kristofferson\, Ofra Haza\, Tears For Fears\, Warren Hill and others. Sweetpea was in Los Angeles adding background vocals to artists like Neil Diamond\, Bonnie Raitt\, Keb Mo\, and Bob Segar. When Atkinson heard the Jacobs was putting together a new project\, he jumped at the chance to be a part of it. It was Bonnie Raitt who inadvertently gave them their name “Boneshakers” while they were working on her “Longing In Our Hearts” CD. In 1996\, the two were signed to Pointblank/Virgin Records and produced two CDs for the label: “Book Of Spells” (1997) which included Randy’s rockin’ swing arrangement of James Brown’s “Cold Sweat” and the powerful “Shake The Planet” (1998). Over the years\, The Boneshakers released another four successful albums. Additionally\, they joined forces with sax queen Mindi Abair and released Live in Seattle on Concord Records. Two more albums were credited to Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers: The EastWest Sessions (2017) and All I Got for Christmas Is the Blues (2018). In 2020\, the band suffered an unimaginable loss with news of the passing of Sweetpea. \nTHE LEGACY CONTINUES Now in 2022\, as The Boneshakers celebrate the 25th anniversary of their first release\, a new energy and excitement has emerged. Producer John Wooler\, who originally signed The Boneshakers in 1997\, connected Randy and the incredible Jenny Langer- a powerhouse singer who was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame (NYC and VA) at the age of 28 and won the 2020 Int’l Blues Challenge for Best SelfProduced Album. What started as a few tracks for her project quickly morphed in a new album with The Boneshakers featuring no-holds-barred funk\, blues\, and rock that marries the sounds and spirits of Detroit Rock City\, Memphis\, and Mussel Shoals. Produced by Wooler\, it is back to the original vision of The Boneshakers’ fiery sound\, with the vocal dynamo Jenny Langer behind the mic and original musicians from “The Book Of Spells” Sergio Gonzales (Drums)\, Nathan Brown (Bass)\, Jon Gilutin (Keys)\, The Texacali Horns (Joe Sublett\, Mark Pender\, and Randy’s former band mate from Was (Not Was) Sir Harry Bowens on vocals. \n  \n\n\n$20.00 \nBuy now \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Good Shot Judy
DESCRIPTION:$20.00 \nBuy now \n\n\n  \nTHE SWING AND THE SWAGGER…\nIt’s hard to nail an exact moment when Good Shot Judy came to life. \nIt could have been when brothers Brett and Jeff Cahoon stepped away from the success they’d achieved with their punk band Ten Years from Now and chose instead to see what they could do with the old-time jazz standards they’d admired for so long. The brothers Cahoon formed a small combo\, and – wouldn’t you know it? – plenty of others felt the same groove. \nOr maybe it was when an inside joke made a name for itself. Their mother\, Judy Cahoon\, is an avid golfer\, and just as common as pars and birdies were three words of encouragement shouted by a supportive friend\, who pumped a fist and hollered across the fairway every time she took a swing: “Good shot\, Judy!” It became a funny family warble among the Cahoons – and as it turns out\, a solid band name\, too. \nOr perhaps that moment of creation arrived when Good Shot Judy freed their potential energy. Keen to give the classic melodies the respect and attention – as well as the power – that it deserved\, the Cahoons filled out Good Shot Judy with a full complement of horns\, percussion and vocals. And magic happened: an ensemble that was bigger than the sum of its parts. \nIn a sense\, Good Shot Judy was already in the stars long ago\, during those formative decades from the 1930s on\, when small jazz combos\, big brass bands and the crooners who sang on top of them were forging an enduring style and repertoire that would be written into the DNA of American music. \nBut really\, all these had a hand in making Good Shot Judy what is today: a big amp jazz band that sets stages aflame nationwide. \nAudiences may never consider that the Good Shot Judy show they’re seeing has been an evolution. They’re too captivated by the sound and spectacle of music that reaches through the time. They’re too caught up in performance that has one foot dancing in the past and one in the here and now. \nA Good Shot Judy show offers all those tunes you know just from growing up in American – songs you can at least hum along to\, if you don’t outright know most of the words. But the music itself is only part of the band’s allure; there’s something electric in the execution\, and it’s that vigor that carries the day as much as the pull of recognition. \nSo\, yeah\, there’s a history. And it’s a big one. Bigger than any one person. Bigger than any one band\, for that matter. But Good Shot Judy is as close as it comes to an intersection between an era’s defining sound and the pleasure of enjoying it the way it was meant to be heard. \nLET’S SWING IT\, BABY… \n  \n\n\n$20.00 \nBuy now \n\n\n
